Pursuit Community Gathering ~ Warrenton, VA

What is Pursuit Community? "Pursuit Community (formerly Pursuit 31) was founded by Karen Stott, and is based on Proverbs 31 in the Bible. We are a Christian community of creative entrepreneurs - more specifically photographers, bloggers / writers, shop owners, calligraphers, and graphic designers - dedicated to cultivating the art of community and building the Kingdom of God as He uses us in our families, neighborhoods, and the world."

I've been able to make it to a few Pursuit Gatherings, and it's been wonderful meeting and spending time with local Christian creatives who provide support, inspiration, and fellowship!

The May gathering for my local Pursuit group (Pursuit Community - Gainesville... hey hey!) was getting together at Shutter Bugs Photography's studio, enjoying some snacks and pizza, and taking some photos! We had a beautiful model in front of our cameras, and our hair and makeup designers got in on the fun too! Thank you, ladies, for your enthusiasm to play dress-up and let us capture your beauty!

Meet our model, Laura!

She is simply STUNNING.

Below is hair & makeup artist Kayla from Iva Bella Salon in Warrenton!

Nicole jumped in as well!

Ali and I also took a few headshots of each other. She is the leader of our Pursuit small group!

Here's one that Ali took of me... She makes me look good!

The ladies all together :) For the photo on the right I asked them to give us their best "model" pose/face
(as if they hadn't done so all evening already)... Kayla's face is my favorite!

Thanks again ladies! I had lots of fun with y'all!!

Did you see Chanté's senior session in Old Town Manassas? Lots of beauty there too! Congrats to her as she graduates!

Talk to y'all soon :)

Nathan Krauss ~ High School Senior 2015 ~ Warrenton, VA

Hi everyone!

Whew, my spring photography season began all at once! I was thankful to not have too much going on photography-wise for the first few months of the year, since we were putting a lot of effort into fundraising for Mission Year. We're still fundraising of course, but it has felt really good getting back into photography sessions and weddings. There's just something I love about connecting with people and serving them through photography.

My husband leads our church youth group, and we have ten graduating seniors this year! One of them is Nathan, who you may remember from a family and senior photo session last fall, as well as his Eagle Scout Court of Honor before that. Nathan has been a dedicated member of our youth group, and he's headed to Emory and Henry College in the fall. It's definitely an exciting time for him!

We had a little mini-session together to capture some cap and gown photos to use in announcements. I experimented with doing portraits inside, and I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out! I don't currently use artificial lighting, so our natural light came from the window with a white sheet in the background. Editing also helped achieve the desired effect. The rainy weather did hold off enough for us to take some photos outside, too, to provide some variety in portraits (and to get a couple more photos in my element too ;) ).

Take a peek into our little indoor portrait experiment, and let us know what you think! Give Nathan lots of congratulations, too!

Congratulations to Nathan and to all graduating seniors from both high school and college!

We've got another senior coming up next on the blog - you can look forward to seeing beautiful Chanté soon! Be sure to "like" Kelly Hudgins Photography on Facebook to see her sneak peek and find out when her post is up! Talk to y'all soon!

Love,

Kelly

The Krauss Family ~ Airlie Family and Senior Photography, Warrenton, VA

Hi photo viewers! Thanks for checking out my blog. :)

Do you remember the Krauss family?? I took photos for Nathan's Eagle Scout portraits and ceremony last fall! The Krausses are members of the church Andrew and I attend (and where Andrew works), and they have been so, so kind to us during our time here at Bethel. They have opened their house to us many times in various ways, Nathan and Matthew are active and awesome members of the youth group, and we're sure to get a smile and a hug when we see them.

Nathan works for Airlie Hotel & Conference Center, and - oh my goodness - it is a beautiful place! I absolutely loved our family + senior session there. I was in awe as we roamed the grounds and took in all they have to offer. There are so many scenic spots! We enjoyed lots of fall colors as we walked around one Sunday evening, taking photos of the family then focusing on Nathan for some senior portraits. :)

Enjoy!

Disclaimer for the next photo: Nathan and Matthew are tall, but they are not giants.
They were standing on a hill in this one. :)

Pictured below is Airlie House... Just one of the beautiful buildings on the grounds!

These are so precious. :)

Because we love flowers!

Helloooo lighting!

After the family photos, we transitioned into a mini senior session for Nathan!
He'll be graduating high school at the end of May!

This one (below) is one of my favorites. Look at that smile!

We finished out our session by popping by the community garden at Airlie.
The Krauss fam has a plot there, as do several other families in the area!

We decided to have some shower-y fun under the huge sunflowers ;)
Hahaha, love it!

After seeing those photos (especially the last one... I mean, come on), you can't help but love this family... right?! Thank you, Krauss fam, for the wonderful evening together!! Thank you again for all you do for the church and for Andrew and me, as well. :)

Editing this session was extra exciting because I'll be photographing a wedding at Airlie THIS weekend! Be sure to "like" Kelly Hudgins Photography to see all the sneak peeks and find out when other blog posts are up!

Y'all are great. Soak up some joy in this holiday season. :)

Love,

Kelly
